Fundraising concerts with the songs that stopped the shows...

Picture
Welcome! Showstoppers is a series of concerts which takes place in Lusaka, Zambia in aid of the Lusaka Children's Charities (LCC) group. Over the course of ten days a group of students, staff and alumni from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) do workshops with local schools and amateur theatre groups, visit charities, cultural sites and safari parks before performing a series of concerts.
The main event is the concerts, usually performed at the Tiyende Pamodzi Theatre, where hits from musicals and pop songs, all arranged specifically for Showstoppers, are performed to the exacting standards of the RCS. Fourteen performers, a live band, a technical team and West End choreographer, Paul Smethurst, join forces to produce an all-singing, all-dancing musical spectacle.

Showstoppers is sponsored by banks and businesses in Lusaka, either financially or through donations in kind. This means that all proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales, as well as a raffle and auction during the interval each night, can go to the LCC group.
