One of the team members from RCS, stage manager Sarah MacDonald, grew up in Zambia on Old MacDonald's Farm - one of the charities in the LCC group. Eager to contribute to the work done by LCC and promote the arts as a career option in Zambia she came up with idea of Showstoppers as a way to combine to two. With the efforts of 25 students/staff/alumni of the RCS as well as the managers of the LCC and generous sponsorship by FNB Ltd, the first Showstoppers tour launched in April 2o15.

Our 2015 programme included hits from Les Miserables, Wicked, Cats, Hairspray, Songs for a New World, Guys & Dolls, Rent and Sister Act. There were also songs from the movies Hercules, Frozen, Moulin Rouge and Mulan as well as songs by Fun and Michael Jackson. Finally, to top it all off, there was a majestic Lion King medley. Performed in the Tiyende Pamodzi Theatre, each show was sold out and received standing ovations. There was also an open dress rehearsal which over 500 children from the LCC group came to and afterwards the team got to hand out goodie-bags (generously donated by local businesses) and spend time with the kids before their VIP premiere show that night.

Showstoppers 2015 raised the kwacha equivalent of £16,000 all of which, thanks to all the sponsors and donations, was counted as profit and given to the LCC group.
